Storm Update: Tornado Watch Issued For These NY Counties

As rounds of showers and storms sweep through the region, a Tornado Watch has now been issued for parts of New York.

The Tornado Watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7 in the counties shown in yellow.

In New York, those counties are:

  • Sullivan
  • Broome
  • Chenango
  • Delaware
  • Otsego
  • Tioga

Severe thunderstorms are expected to continue through the afternoon and in Monday evening.

"These thunderstorms will have the potential to produce damaging winds, large hail, and localized tornadoes," the National Weather Service said. "Heavy rain could cause localized flash flooding."
